What the agent needs to hear

Behind your sentence, the agent works backwards to three pieces: which exercise, the sequence of weight and reps in order, and the shape — whether the pyramid climbs, descends, or rises and falls. You don’t have to spell the shape out; the agent reads it from your sequence. « 60 for 10, 70 for 8, 80 for 6 » is a climbing pyramid; « 100 for 6, 90 for 8, 80 for 10 » descends; « 6-4-2-4-6 » with weights climbing and falling traces a full pyramid.

The active exercise is the assumed target. If you’ve moved past it, name it: « pyramid on squat, 60 for 10, 70 for 8, 80 for 6 ». The agent shows you a card with each step in sequence — weight, reps, in the order you hit them — and waits for a nod.

Steps and order

Steps go in the order you trained them. Climbing pyramids start light and add load; descending pyramids start heavy and strip load; a full pyramid does both around a peak. The order on the card matches your sentence, top to bottom. If you swap a step’s weight or reps after seeing the card, say what’s off: « the third step was 85, not 80 ». The agent adjusts that one row and leaves the others alone.

If reps and weights were tightly paired (« 6-4-2-4-6 at 100-110-120-110-100 »), the agent maps them positionally — first rep count goes with first weight, and so on. Same pattern as drop sets, just with the weight curve running differently.

What the pyramid shape preserves

A pyramid is one set, logged as N steps. The system reads the heaviest step as the working weight — that’s what feeds PR detection and progression on the exercise. Climb to 80 for 6 in a pyramid and the PR ledger sees 80 for 6, same as if you’d done it as a top set in a regular session.

What logging it as a pyramid adds is the warm-up-into-work pattern: the system knows the lighter steps were ramp work, not separate sets at submaximal load. That changes how the lighter steps read for volume and fatigue — they count, but the system doesn’t treat them as fresh independent efforts the way it would if you logged them standalone.

When the agent gets it wrong

Read each step on the card before confirming. If a rep count on one step is off, say the step: « the top step was 5, not 6 ». If a weight is off, same shape: « the second step was 72.5, not 70 ». The card updates in place.

If the agent split your sentence into separate independent sets instead of one pyramid, push back: « that’s one pyramid, not three sets ». If you climbed and dropped (a full pyramid) but the agent only caught the climb half, say so: « it was a full pyramid — 6-4-2-4-6, weights symmetric around 120 », and the card extends to show all five steps.

What makes the log worth keeping

Three things decide whether this pyramid helps you later: the shape is one cluster (so the warm-up-to-work pattern is preserved, not flattened into independent sets), the heaviest step is the real top weight you hit (so PR detection reads the peak), and the steps run in the order you trained them (so the climb or descent reads cleanly). The system uses these for PR detection, ramp-volume distinction, and progression; logging a pyramid as separate sets loses the climb-to-peak signal entirely. Say the sequence the way you climbed (or descended) it, and let the agent group the steps.
