Voice mode

Use Native Voice Coach in its limited rollout, or dictate through an external MCP client.

There are two ways to use voice with Verxion: Voice Coach in the native app and voice or dictation in an external MCP client. Their setup, availability, and controls differ.

Native Voice Coach — limited rollout

Voice Coach is experimental and available only to enabled accounts on a compatible Native build. Installing the app or adding a key does not grant access. Set logging by voice is enabled separately; if settings say it is unavailable, log sets in the workout screen.

Set up and call

  1. Connect your native agent and choose its model using the BYOK guide.
  2. Open Settings → Voice, review the information about sending voice to OpenAI, and allow microphone access.
  3. Add an OpenAI voice API key. If your agent already uses OpenAI, you can link that key or use a separate one. An agent using another provider still needs an OpenAI key for voice.
  4. Enable voice and tap the voice button in the agent chat. You can call without an active workout.

Without a workout, ask about your history, routines, diet, or progress, or dictate today’s entries:

"How did my week go?"
"Log 1.5 litres of water today."
"Log today's lunch: chicken with rice and vegetables."

Voice can read and change data through the agent. For creating or deleting routines, plans, saved meals, or entries for other days, the coach is instructed to describe the change and ask for spoken confirmation first. Entries you just dictated for today can be saved without a second confirmation. State quantities, units, and dates clearly; check the saved result if recognition was uncertain.

During a workout

Start the workout in the app before calling for live exercise context. Ask “what is next?” or “how is this session going?”. When set logging is enabled, you can dictate a regular set with its exercise, weight, and reps. Missing details need clarification; a suspected repeat needs confirmation that you performed another identical set.

Corrections by voice cover only regular sets recorded during that same call. Earlier sets and advanced types such as drop sets, supersets, rest-pause, and AMRAP should be edited in the app. If set logging is unavailable, other agent actions remain available; the call is not generally read-only.

History, cost, and ending a call

Transcripts and agent tasks stay in the chat. Check the task result and the underlying entry before repeating an action whose outcome is uncertain. Voice answers do not require a ChatGPT widget or a tap to approve every entry.

OpenAI voice usage and delegated agent usage are billed separately to your API accounts, even if they share a key. An open call can incur voice cost during silence. The app shows usage estimates; the provider’s billing record is authoritative. Missing final usage is not a zero-cost call.

Tap hang up when finished. Native does not support background calls: leaving the app or locking the phone ends the call. Hanging up does not undo saved changes or guarantee cancellation of a write already in progress. Review its result in the chat.

External MCP clients

Connect Verxion to ChatGPT or another MCP client, then use the client’s supported voice input or system dictation. Whether tools can run during a voice conversation depends on that client and mode; if unavailable, dictate into its text composer and send the message.

The client transcribes your request and calls Verxion tools. Its confirmations, widgets, and supported actions follow that client’s integration. Native’s same-call set correction limits do not describe every external client. Review the returned entry, especially numbers and units.

Privacy

In Native, audio travels directly from your device to OpenAI. Verxion does not store audio; transcripts, task results, and call metadata are saved with your account. The selected agent provider also receives the context needed to perform delegated tasks. Provider processing and retention depend on the applicable provider terms and settings; using OpenRouter for the agent does not apply its routing policy to OpenAI voice.

In external clients, the client handles audio under its own policy and sends text and tool requests to Verxion. See the Privacy Policy for Verxion’s treatment of stored data.
