Advanced sets

Drop sets, supersets, giant sets, pyramids, rest-pause, and AMRAP — every common set type, first-class.

verxion treats advanced sets as first-class. You don’t have to flatten them into “8 reps then 6 reps then 4 reps” — log them with structure intact so analytics know what you actually did.

See concepts for definitions if any term is new.

Drop set

Reduce weight each stage, no rest between drops.

"Drop set on lateral raises: 12x10, then 8x8, then 5x12"

verxion logs the top weight as the working weight and stores each drop stage with its own reps.

→ Recipe: Log a drop set

Superset

Two exercises performed back-to-back, then rest.

"Superset: bench 80x10 paired with rows 60x10"
"Logged a superset of curls and pushdowns, 3 rounds"

→ Recipe: Log a superset

Giant set

Three or more exercises back-to-back, then rest.

"Giant set on shoulders: lateral raise 8x12, rear delt 10x15, front raise 5x12"

→ Recipe: Log a giant set

Pyramid

Ascending or descending weight across sets.

"Pyramid on squats: 60x10, 80x8, 100x6, 120x4"
"Reverse pyramid bench: 100x5, 90x7, 80x10"

→ Recipe: Log a pyramid set

Rest-pause

Short rest within what would be one set, to extract a few more reps.

"Rest-pause bench at 100: one heavy single, then 4, then 2"

The working weight is the top single; mini-sets are stored with per-mini-set reps (and weight, if it differs).

→ Recipe: Log a rest-pause set

AMRAP

As Many Reps As Possible — one set to technical failure at a given weight.

"AMRAP on dips: 12 reps"
"AMRAP at 100 on bench, got 6 reps"

→ Recipe: Log an AMRAP set

Why log them as advanced sets

If you flatten a drop set into three separate normal sets, your analytics think you did three working sets at three different weights — fine for volume, wrong for stimulus tracking, PR detection, and execution scoring. Logged as a drop set, verxion knows it’s one big set with structure.

Configuring advanced sets in routines

You can pre-configure advanced sets per exercise in a routine day, so the agent knows what to expect:

"On my push day, add bench as a drop set: top 100, two drops"

When the session runs, verxion prompts you for the right structure.
